Hong Kong has always had an intimate relationship with the sea; local fishermen, distant travellers, and avid sailors have all respected the waters that hug the verdant hills of its coastline. By incorporating traditional colours, local motifs, and unique fabrics to create classic swim shorts for the man who understands quality and comfort, Māzŭ Resortwear, a true blend of tradition and modernity, pays homage to Asia’s rich maritime history, nestling here perfectly with the locals.
Our namesake is the Chinese goddess Māzŭ, the divine patroness of the sea. By incorporating Māzŭ’s compelling spirit into our brand, we are paying homage to Asian culture and respecting the significant role played by this Goddess in the lives of those living in or by the sea.
Māzŭ Resortwear has three core brand values that are referred as the “Three Sail Approaches” – Passion, Craftsmanship and Heritage. The craftsmanship and work that go into our swim shorts are second to none. Our fabrication has an extremely soft-touch hand feel with a durability and texture you would find in a luxury product, while our metal aglets are handcrafted and gilded to resemble a traditional monkey fist knot. The double-needle stitching and point d’arrêt finishes indicate that the construction of each pair has been done with such detailed effort and care to ensure that the shorts not only look great from the outside, but also look and feel great on the inside. Māzŭ swimwear featured on the site are all made out of recycled plastic bottles.
